Turning founder expertise into a clear brand narrative.
Sin&Co is a boutique architecture studio specialising in luxury hospitality design and development. Founded by hospitality architect Jonny Sin, the practice combines deep sector experience with an intentionally boutique approach — specialised, agile and highly personal. The challenge wasn't simply to explain what Sin&Co does. It was to capture why the business exists, what Jonny believes, and what makes their approach to hospitality different.
The Challenge
As a young practice backed by significant industry experience, Sin&Co had a clear positioning tension: the business was new, but the expertise behind it wasn't. Much of Jonny's value existed in conversation rather than in the brand. Our job was to extract the ideas already there and turn them into a clear, authentic body of media — not to manufacture a founder persona.
The Approach
We began with a strategic Founder Media interview designed to go deeper than a conventional company Q&A. The conversation explored why Jonny created Sin&Co, what the business believes, how it approaches projects, where the hospitality market is changing, and what great hospitality means to him.
Three ideas kept resurfacing: "We're boutique intentionally." "We actually live and breathe hotels." "Hospitality is fundamentally about people." Those weren't marketing lines we wrote. They were his. From them, we developed a simple narrative framework for the brand film: Who Sin&Co are → What they do → What makes them different → How they work → Why it matters.
Who Sin&Co Are
Sin&Co isn't boutique because it's new. It's boutique by design — a practice built to remain specialised, agile and connected to its clients, supported by people with deep hospitality experience.
What They Do
Sin&Co's value begins before architecture becomes visible. The practice works with clients at the earliest stages to understand the opportunity, define the brief, establish positioning and develop the narrative that will inform the design. Strategy and understanding first. Architecture follows.
What Makes Them Different
"We actually live and breathe hotels. It's all we really do." Their value isn't simply architectural capability — it's hospitality expertise. That allows Sin&Co to lead projects as architect where appropriate, and to collaborate with other practices as specialist hospitality consultants.
How They Work
The strongest theme to emerge wasn't architecture. It was people. Jonny repeatedly returned to relationships, trust, communication, collaboration and transparency. That belief doesn't only shape the spaces Sin&Co designs; it shapes the experience of working with them.
Why It Matters
We respond to spaces before we can explain why. They can make us feel comfortable, overwhelmed, calm or connected. For Sin&Co, designing for hospitality means understanding how people will feel and behave within a space — not just how it looks. That's where philosophy, expertise and purpose converge.
From One Conversation to a Content System
The interview was evaluated through our Founder Media Evaluation Process (FMEP), identifying Jonny's strongest authority themes, recurring beliefs, language and future editorial opportunities. From one session we developed:
- A flagship Sin&Co brand film
- A series of short-form founder videos
- Founder and brand spotlight moments
- 20 long-form article opportunities
- 20 future talking-head topics
- A Founder Media Evaluation Report
- A clear set of authority themes for future content
One conversation became more than one video. It became the foundation of an ongoing body of founder-led media.
The Outcome
The first short-form piece, "Who is Sin&Co?", introduced the practice through Jonny's own words and was published across Sin&Co's social channels. Rather than launching with polished corporate messaging, the content lets the founder articulate the business himself — giving audiences direct access to the experience and thinking behind the brand.
Each piece reinforces the same narrative: Sin&Co is intentionally boutique, deeply specialised in hospitality, and fundamentally people-focused. That's the value of founder-led media when it's approached strategically. You don't continually invent new things to say. You identify what the founder genuinely believes, capture it properly, and build recognition around it.
