Scope

  • Industry insight series
  • Authority positioning
  • Editorial system

An ongoing founder-led editorial partnership designed to position Burnt Chocolate Consultancy — and founder Andy Downton — as a recognised authority within modern hospitality consultancy.

With more than 20 years of experience across some of London's most demanding and iconic restaurants and hospitality brands, Andy had already built deep operational credibility within the industry. As Director of Burnt Chocolate Consultancy — and an Ambassador for The Burnt Chef Project — his work focused on helping hospitality businesses strengthen operational performance, improve financial health, optimise service systems, and create healthier working environments for staff and leadership teams alike.

The expertise existed. What was missing was a consistent public-facing editorial presence capable of translating that experience into long-term authority.

Before the partnership, much of Andy's insight, operational thinking, and industry perspective lived inside client relationships and private conversations rather than visible market narrative. Like many experienced operators, he was initially uncomfortable in front of the camera and uncertain how to consistently communicate his perspective through modern media platforms.

DRGNFLY worked closely with Andy to build both the editorial infrastructure and the confidence behind it — developing a long-term founder-led media ecosystem designed around operational insight, industry commentary, and meaningful hospitality conversations.

Through ongoing media coaching, editorial guidance, and documentary-style production support, Andy evolved from being hesitant on camera to independently creating content, using tools like CapCut, launching his own TikTok presence, and regularly hosting live sessions to engage directly with hospitality audiences and industry peers.

The partnership combined strategic short-form media, podcast conversations, long-form commentary, founder-led storytelling, and interviews with respected operators across hospitality — all designed to create depth rather than content volume.

The objective was never visibility for visibility's sake. It was to establish a recognisable and trusted voice within hospitality consultancy — one grounded in operational realism, commercial understanding, staff wellbeing, and genuine industry experience.

Over time, the content evolved beyond social media output into a growing editorial library designed to compound trust over time. Prospects increasingly arrived already familiar with Andy's thinking and approach. Industry conversations began before formal introductions. Peers within hospitality engaged directly with the operational viewpoints and leadership perspectives being shared publicly.

The result is not simply increased visibility, but stronger authority alignment — reinforcing Burnt Chocolate Consultancy's positioning within the hospitality industry while helping Andy grow into a more confident, visible, and respected public-facing founder within the sector.
